Tony Gillam is a singer-songwriter, acoustic guitarist and dulcimer player, specialising in original indie-folk songs and atmospheric instrumentals. A regular at West Midlands music venues, including performances at Worcester Music Festival, the Three Choirs Festival and Worcester Theatres’ Culture Café, his music has been played on BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester, BBC Radio Shropshire and Black Country Radio. He describes his style as ‘indie-folk’ as it owes a lot to the contemporary folk of classic singer-songwriters of the 1970s but is also infused with an indie sensibility. Imagine Cat Stevens and Echo and the Bunnymen meeting on Kidderminster’s West Coast! His use of the mountain dulcimer, in addition to acoustic guitar, adds variety and texture to his gigs. Tony is particularly keen to bring his performances to communities where access to original live music may be more difficult. Prepare to enjoy delicate melodies, strong rhythms and often startlingly surreal lyrics.
