The Gruffs are a three-piece band, with roots firmly in neo-rockabilly and psychobilly and branching out to touches of psychedelia. They play regularly around the country, including festivals, club nights and one-off gigs. They’ve an extensive discography on Western Star Records, with 2 CD albums, two vinyl EP’s receiving great reviews (4.5/5 in Vintage Rock Magazine for 2022’s Cosmic Kafoodle) and a new picture disc coming out in summer 2024., Founder members Nick Plant (double bass, lead vocals) and Frank Creamer (drums and backing vocals) formed in the first line-up in 2017 with guitarist Matt Nailor, releasing the first CD “Not The Full Shilling”. The EP’s “Esmerelda” and” In Limbo Land” followed with Jim Hammond on drums before the current line-up formed with Frank back on the drum stool and Tim Jackson on guitars and backing vocals. Their latest CD “Cosmic Kafoodle”, released in 2022 to much acclaim, provides the basis of the current live set which is supplemented with old favourites and a sprinkling of songs from the forthcoming picture disc “Drag a Hoof”., Originality is key to the band’s appeal. All three play with high individual instrument set-ups to create a unique “in the nude” sound.
