The current line up was formed in 2019 and immediately the band set about perfecting, writing and restructuring existing songs. Unfortunately just as good progress was being made the pandemic brought about a crushing halt to any plans the band had. When the world returned to some sort of normality in 2022, Aonach hit the ground running with regular practices and studio time. The goal being to start gigging and unleash tracks for the world to hear. The sound of the band had evolved to a more sludge/doom orientated feel and what was being made sounded nothing like what the band had created previously. 2023 saw the bands first 2 gigs, the debut show being at The Marrs Bar in June and what a reception it was. In July the band played in Bristol and it’s fair to say the band made some new friends that day too after a great show. In 2024 Aonach were back in the studio re-recording and when ready the songs were released, one per month onto Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music and various other platforms. A Halloween release of the latest song “Hanging Tree” has to date been the group’s most popular song also garnering over 370 views on Youtube. In February Aonach took part in Heat 1 of Metal 2 The Masses in Birmingham where a stonking 30 minute set was greeted with headbanging and circle pits. One thing ticked on the to do list, play a gig in the home of metal. 2025 is all about playing as many gigs as possible and making further connections. One success so far is Aonach music being used for a workout playlist by a not for profit inspiring metalheads to get into exercise. Aonach has a mixture of sounds, the bands music is a nod to all things metal such as old school thrash, black/post metal and hard rocking riffs. If you’re a fan of Bossk, Black Sabbath, Mastodon, Red Fang then Aonach might be for you. The culture of Aonach is channeling our individual and collective inspirations into our sludge/doom soundscape and ensuring anybody who watches goes away wanting more but more so they feel they’re part of something.
