Martin began playing as a child and Jill has always been a singer. They write songs together. String Box play at numerous Bluegrass festivals throughout summer months as well as their own originals, they cover golden oldies such as Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Doc Watson, Carl Perkins, Flat and Scruggs, Donovan, Dylan, Tina Turner plus many more.

Locally they have recently played at The Retired Soldier, Malvern Cube, and West Malvern Social Club on Sunday nights. Further afield they play in Pershore, Evesham, Redmarley, Newent and Upton Folk weekend.
