Kyteler features Claire on vocals, Keiran on Guitar, James on Bass and Carl on drums. Dame Alice Kyteler, was the first person to be condemned for witchcraft in Ireland, however, she escaped from Ireland and was never seen or heard from ever again. Take from that what you will, but remember it when watching Kyteler perform. Though the band’s sound revolves around Grunge, Stoner Rock and Psychedelic elements, they are heavily influenced by folk, punk, blues and even “world” music. One of the band’s songs is inspired by music Keiran heard on his travels in South America and another he wrote has elements that give a nod to Marrabenta music. James’ distorted bass lines keep the sound rooted in the grunge/stoner world, whilst daring to add a touch of funky blues inspirations. Carl has performed in punk, rock and metal bands on drums, whilst also busking and performing in folk bands with his Djembe. He is also a tad partial to DnB, which has influenced his drumming style for Kyteler, where his djembe makes an appearance. Claire has experience of performing solo and in bands, including a pirate folk band! Her lyrics are inspired by nature and the cycles of the natural world, her travels, paganism, folklore and society.
